Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Homicide Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 45-year old Duval County man.

That individual, who was positively identified as James Vincent Brookins, 45, 7500 Powers Ave., Jacksonville, was located in the trunk of an abandoned 2008 Toyota Corolla on St. Ambrose Church Rd., in Elkton early Wednesday morning.

The Medical Examiner’s preliminary autopsy finding is that Brookins manner of death is consistent with that of a homicide. The actual cause of death is being withheld until a suspect is identified. Brookins was reported missing to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, 27 April.
