Historic City News learned today that the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Patrick G. Kennedy, has been filled by appointment of Assistant State Attorney Leah R. Case of Ormond Beach.
Governor Charlie Crist announced Case’s appointment to the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court with words of support and confidence.
“Leah’s work ethic, efficiency and extensive trial experience during the past 16 years will be an asset to the circuit court,” said Governor Crist. “I am confident she will carefully consider both sides of every issue and follow the rule of law to ensure justice and fairness.”
42 year-old Case has served as an assistant state attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit since 1994; she also was a specially appointed assistant United States attorney from 2002 to 2003.
In 1998, she practiced with Smith, Hood, Perkins, Louks and Stoudt. She received her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida.
