Rash of burglaries at local auto repair shops

Posted on 05/04/2010 By Historic City News

Local St. Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that over the past two days, police have responded to six different auto repair shops who have reported vandalism and theft from their vehicles.

AA Foreign Auto Repair, First Coast Honda, First Coast Tire & Service, Good Works Auto Repair, Auto Select, and Richbourg Certified Auto were all victims of vandalism and theft.

The suspect(s) broke windows to gain entry into 14 locked vehicles; stealing $850 in radios.

The estimated cost to repair all the windows is $4,000.

Community Affairs Officer Barbara Clifford of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that evidence was taken from the scenes and the investigation is ongoing.
