Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council Representative Kim DeLaney informed St. Johns County local news reporters at Historic City News that a kickoff meeting will be held to re-establish the Amtrak-FEC Corridor Coalition.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held on Friday, March 26th, from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Cocoa Beach City Hall located at 65 Stone Street in Cocoa Beach, FL.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide a project overview & update on proposed passenger transit service on the FEC rail corridor between Jacksonville and West Palm Beach, with continuing service through to Miami.
Invited participants include cities and counties along the corridor, the Florida Department of Transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, regional planning councils, other public agencies, citizen and business groups, and Amtrak as well as the congressional and legislative delegation members along the corridor.
It is hoped that Coalition participants will be able to identify strategies to move the Amtrak-FEC project forward.
