GOP State Committeewoman Becky Reichenberg informed local Historic City News reporters that the St. Johns County Republican Executive Committee will hold an open house this Friday, June 11th, at the new St. Johns County Republican Headquarters in St. Augustine.
Although the Grand Opening will be Saturday, July 10th, the open house will be held on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until 8:00 p.m.
During this election year, Republicans will utilize the office space that was the former Bozard Ford Parts Department located on San Marco Avenue across the street from the Old Jail and entrance to the Fountain of Youth.
“Please stop by and find out the various ways you can help,” Reichenberg said. “We have several needs — including volunteers to man the office, to help register voters, answer the phone, welcome people and hand out literature.”
Reichenberg says that before the General Election in November, the GOP hopes to reach every Republican voter in St. Johns County with help from a newly acquired Voter Star system.
“It will be slow until August,” Reichenberg said. “But we need to be here for interested voters.”
After the primary, Reichenberg estimates that they will require several volunteers per day and that they will be open more evenings. “We will need those who would like to input e-mail addresses and telephone numbers into computers and, eventually, we will be making phone calls to get out the vote.”
Beginning with Saturday’s Grand Opening, the posted hours for the new office will be Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. — staying late on Tuesday until 8:00 p.m.
Reichenberg expects to need a lot of help Saturday, and she is hoping to sign up an ample number of volunteers during Friday’s open house. “There will be a job for everyone,” Reichenberg explained. “I will have a list of items we need on Friday.”
Reichenberg also recognized the efforts of local Republicans to get the headquarters building ready for these events. “We want to say a big thank you to all who have worked so hard to get the headquarters ready.”
