Jeremy Robshaw, Public Information Officer with St. Johns County Fire Rescue, informed Historic City News local reporters that County emergency personnel and the City of St. Augustine Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 1100 block of 4th Street at approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning.
Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming from a single-wide mobile home.
Once it was confirmed that the structure was evacuated; firefighters forced entry and quickly extinguished the blaze.
Fire investigators determined that the location of the fire was in the kitchen area which corroborated the explanation given by a juvenile on the scene; who is the only known occupant of the mobile home at the time the fire started.
Robshaw told Historic City News that the fire will be listed as an accidental cooking fire.
“Damages are estimated at $20,000 with the structure listed as a total loss,” Robshaw said.
There were no injuries reported during this incident.
