Local St Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that last Wednesday morning, Police Corporal Tim Bryan observed a white Toyota traveling at high rate of speed by a driver who was not wearing his seatbelt.
Bryan stopped the vehicle which was driven by 33 year-old Kentorie L. Brady who resides at 27 Helen Street in Saint Augustine. Brady falsely identified himself to police as “Detiastephon Solomon”.
Upon checking records from the Florida Division of Drivers Licenses, police discovered that the picture of Solomon did not match Brady. When Corporal Bryan had Brady exit the vehicle and attempted to take him into custody, Brady resisted and after a short struggle was able to flee on foot.
Corporal Bryan caught up with Brady and secured him in handcuffs.
A search of the area of the struggle and Brady’s vehicle revealed crack cocaine and approx. 23 grams of marijuana; both drugs tested positive with field test kits.
Corporal Bryan ran a warrant check on Brady and found he was wanted for failure to pay child support. Also, Brady’s driver’s license was suspended.
Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that Brady was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Marijuana, resisting arrest without violence, giving a false name to law enforcement officers and driving while license suspended.
Brady remains in custody today in lieu of $7,000 bond.
