The Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission has notified Historic City News that Florida attorneys are being sought to fill the position of Statewide Prosecutor.
Applicants must be an elector of the state, a member of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, and must devote full-time to their duties and not engage in the private practice of law. The Judicial Nominating Commission will nominate not less than three persons to the Attorney General, who will appoint the Statewide Prosecutor for a term of four years, to run concurrently with the term of the Attorney General.
The person appointed Statewide Prosecutor is prohibited from running for or accepting appointment to any state office for a period of two years following vacation of office.
The salary range for the position is $77,470 to $163,626.

Ten copies of the completed application, with attachments and financial statement, must be received by the Chair, Martin Lee Garcia, 1700 MacDill Avenue, #260,Tampa, FL 33629 no later than Nov. 23, 2010. In addition to the original and nine copies, applicants are requested to provide one electronic redacted copy of the application which complies with Chapter 119 and Florida’s public records law to the Chair at: mgarcia@pinehillcapital.net.
Interviews will take place at The Florida Bar offices at the Tampa Airport Marriott Hotel on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010.
The members currently serving on the Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission are: Chair Martin Garcia, Tampa; Vice Chair Howard Coker, Jacksonville; Robert Hackleman, Ft. Lauderdale, Jason Unger, Tallahassee; Katherine Ezell, Miami; Kathleen Shanahan, Tampa; Cynthia Angelos, Port St. Lucie; Robert A. Butterworth, Jr., Ft. Lauderdale; and Alexander Murphee Clem, Orlando. The appointment takes place every four years, according to Section 16.56, F.S.
