Historic City News will be watching as St. Augustine City Commissioners meet on Monday evening at 5:00 p.m. in the Alcazar Room at City Hall to consider a transfer of $3.4 million from storm-water reserves to begin the Riberia Street improvement project in January.
In a June 9, 2010, communication from then Chief Operations Officer John Regan, he reported to Historic City News that the concrete transfer from the Bridge of Lions to the south end of Riberia Street, would be the last major trucking project along Riberia Street before major improvements begin. We were told that the Phase One work, extending from King Street to the area of Bridge Street along Riberia Street would begin in October.
The project includes new storm-water facilities, water and sewer replacements.
Also included will be reconstructing the roadway on Riberia Street; with turn lanes at King Street and at Bridge Street.
We are told that officials are working on a bond issue to replenish the storm-water reserve account.
