Supervisor of Elections Penny Halyburton invited Historic City News readers in St. Johns County to attend an Open House on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 to preview St. Johns County’s new DS200 voting equipment.
The Open House will be held between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Supervisor of Elections Office, located at 4455 Avenue A, Suite 101.
“The DS200s were recently purchased to replace our outdated Optech III-P Eagles,” Assistant Supervisor Vicky Oakes said. “These precise ballot scanners are the latest in state-of-the-art, digital scanning technology.”
With the new voting equipment comes a new ballot design — which will begin being used in the August 24th Primary Election this year.
Also on display will be a collection of historical voting ledgers and election equipment. “These are cherished reminders of the progress we’ve made through the years to achieve the high quality standards of today’s election services that we provide to the residents of St. Johns County,” Halyburton told Historic City News. “Come celebrate this very special event with us.”
New voters can register to vote and the Supervisor’s Office suggests that it’s also a great time to update your current registration for name, signature, and address or to request an absentee ballot.
