Vehicle stolen – some contents later found

Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens reported to Historic City News that the St. Augustine Police Department was called to a residence on Lions Gate Drive last Wednesday, December 22nd, to investigate a vehicle that was reported stolen.

Officer Amy Troscher contacted the owner who told her that he parked his 2003 Ford Expedition in his driveway overnight. When he awoke Thursday morning, he found the vehicle missing.

According to the police report, the victim had a digital camera, debit cards, sports tickets, a purse, and $20.00 cash inside the vehicle, however, he could not be certain if the vehicle was locked.

At about 11:00 a.m. on December 23rd, Officer Harry Tucker responded to a parking lot on Masters Drive where some of the property was discovered. Tucker retrieved the debit cards, the sports tickets, and the cash.

The property was returned to the owner.

According to Officer Stevens, the stolen vehicle was entered into the police computer system and the investigation is ongoing.
