Due to a water main break on San Marco Avenue this morning, Historic City News has been requested to alert our readers that, as a precaution, all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes be boiled.
Public Information Coordinator Cathy DuPont told Historic City News that the City of St. Augustine advises readers that it is sufficient for water to reach a rolling boil for one minute. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.
DuPont said, “This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.”
