Historic City News local St. Augustine news desk has learned that the popular downtown St. Augustine bar and restaurant, Scarlett O’Hara’s, has acquired an adjoining building and has plans to expand.
According to a warranty deed dated December 23rd and recorded with the Clerk of Court, Rhetts St. Augustine LLC purchased 66 Hypolita Street; next door to Scarlett’s present location.
Kristy Weeks, owner and founder of Panache, has operated her downtown salon and spa at the Hypolita Street location since 1987. Her husband, Len Weeks, owned the building and sold the property for a reported $350,000.
Panache has a second location and in March, the downtown employees will be relocated to the Panache location at Anastasia’s Publix Plaza on St. Augustine Beach.
This will be the second expansion for Scarlett O’Hara’s since it opened about 30 years ago. Scarlett’s current owner, John Arbizzani, was not immediately available for comment on specific plans for the expansion. Permits have yet to be pulled.
