Sacha Martin announced to Historic City News that the Scenic A1A Vilano Bridge 5k Run/Walk over the Intracoastal Waterway and activities will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
“The 15th year of this family oriented event is not just your “ordinary” 5K Run,” Martin said. “Saturday we will be holding three events rolled into one morning.” Jumperama is providing bounce entertainment for the kids.
The run will be conducted under the direction of Ancient City Road Runners. Registered participants will run competitively for trophies and medals in each age group. Runners get a t-shirt, goodie bag, ribbon and smoothie, courtesy of Smoothie King. Walkers can complete the course with a baby stroller or dogs.
$15 pre-application can be paid via www.VilanoBeachFL.com or Friday from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at the North Shores Community Center located at 120 Meadow Avenue, Vilano Beach. On race day, the fee is $20.
Registration will be held at the “starting line” in the athletic field behind Vilano Town Center beginning at 7:00 a.m. — the race begins at 8:00 a.m.
Country Breakfast — Start with a $5 country breakfast sponsored by Creekside Dinery; from chef and local surfing guru Eric Norton and his staff — $4 for runners, $3 for kids.
Community Flea Market — Shoppers can browse a community flea market where anyone can set up a table for free near the community center. Entrance is on a first come basis.
