Lynn Blenkhorn reported to Historic City News that Saturday morning, a large St. Augustine area crowd is expected for the 25th National Multiple Sclerosis Society “Cycle to the Shore” two-day event.
Participants will cycle from St. Augustine to Daytona the first day; then, cycle back to St. Augustine from Daytona the second day.
The ride will commence at 7:15 a.m. from the Northeast Florida Regional Airport at St. Augustine and includes special participants, Ana Molé, a Florida-native with MS, and Robin Farina, a professional cyclist.
Molé and Farina will team up to ride a tandem bicycle to demonstrate that those living with MS do not have to be limited or defined by their disease.
Farina is the team captain of “NOW and Novartis for MS” — an inspirational cycling team made up of professional female cyclists nationwide who are committed to raise awareness for this potentially devastating disease.
“I know several people living with Multiple Sclerosis though our local MS Society,” Farina told Historic City News. “I am very excited about the opportunity to race with this team and more importantly for a good cause.”
Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2001, Molé is mother to two children and a wine industry career professional. She chose to ride as part of the team to inspire others with MS to hold on to their aspirations and achieve what is possible.
Proceeds benefit the North Florida Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
