Five arrested in St Augustine Beach burglaries

Historic City News learned from Sheriff David B. Shoar’s office that five St. Johns County teenagers are in custody in connection with several car and home burglaries that occurred in Marsh Creek and other St. Augustine Beach locations in early September.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office and St. Augustine Beach Police Department have been investigating the numerous burglaries that occurred over the second week in September.

Since that time, officers were able to identify the teenagers and obtain warrants for their arrest.

Those suspects that have been arrested over the past three days were identified as
Victor Levent Sands, 19, 175 N. McLaughlin St.; Carlos Andrew Bryant Jr., 17, 964
W. King St.; Cedrick Lavelle Grayer, 17, 917 Josiah St.; Lezavius T. Session, 17, 992
Brown St.; and Victor James, 16, 724 W. King St.

The four juveniles have been charged as adults and have been booked into the County Jail on bonds ranging from $30,000-$120,000.

Sands was released yesterday after posting a $30,000 bond.

The investigation has revealed that the suspects had entered unlocked vehicles and remove property.

In some of the crimes, the suspects removed a garage door opener to gain entry into a garage or inside homes.

Among the property taken were bicycles, I-Pads, currency, garage door openers, and, in one case, a cell phone that assisted detectives in locating and identifying the suspects.

With the holidays quickly approaching, Sheriff David Shoar would like to remind all residents and visitors, “Keep valuables out of sight and lock your doors!”
