Historic City News reporters were alerted by Kevin Kelshaw that the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred yesterday afternoon in the Sawgrass Players Club neighborhood in Ponte Vedra Beach.
The mother of a 12 year-old male told deputies that her son was riding his bicycle around Seabury Circle, around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when he observed a white truck following him.
The juvenile stated that he did not look directly at the vehicle but that it followed him four times around the block.
On the fourth trip, the boy pulled off onto a pathway into the woods and waited for the truck to pass before returning home.
The only description the child gave deputies was that the vehicle was a medium sized white pick-up truck and could not describe the occupant or occupants of the vehicle.
As with any situation involving the safety of our children, this incident is being taken seriously and is actively being investigated. It is unknown what the intentions of the driver were, but deputies are seeking to identify and speak with that individual.
Anyone who may have witnessed any information relating to the driver or vehicle described is asked to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 824-8304.
