Building total loss – but no one injured in fire
St Johns County Fire Rescue told Historic City News that firefighters responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 2000 block of Joe Ashton Rd at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning.
Upon arrival, crews found an approximately 1000 sq ft storage shed that was heavily involved in fire. The shed was located directly behind an unoccupied residential structure on the property.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and quickly brought the flames under control preventing fire spread or damage to the adjacent home.
Due to the extent of fire upon arrival, the shed sustained extensive damage and will likely be determined a total loss.
There were no injuries reported during this incident and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by St Johns County Fire Rescue.
