City manager wants $30,000 for 450th expenses
City Manager John Regan plans to announce the staff recommendations for the 450th Commemoration Plan during Monday night’s regular meeting of the St. Augustine City Commission; October 10, 2011 beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Three recommendations have been disclosed in the published agenda, including the payment of at least $30,000 in city funding for “collectible” souvenirs and consulting fees to find private sector funding in support of the anniversary of the founding of St. Augustine in 2015.
During the planned discussion, the City Manager will also address items relevant to the 450th Commemoration based on the 3:30 p.m. workshop prior to the commission meeting.
Recommendations by staff include:
• Recommend approval of a 450th Partnership with Miami Tri Events for production of a marathon foot race and associated activities;
• Recommend approval of $19,000 line item budget to support a 90-day contract for development of sponsorships and advertising campaign targeting revenue streams through the private sector;
• Recommend approval of $11,000 line item budget providing support for development of signature Commemoration items such as, but not limited to, 450th Commemoration coins, 450th Commemoration postage stamp, and additional collectible items.
If you are planning to attend — the regular St. Augustine City Commission meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday and will be held in the Alcazar Room; on the first floor of City Hall, located at 75 King Street in St. Augustine. It will be broadcast live on Comcast Government TV (Cable Channel 3) and is streamed over the Internet.
