Public Information Officer Mark Samson reported to Historic City News that the final numbers from the “Click it or Ticket” campaign during May have been tabulated by the St. Augustine Police Department.
City police officers wrote 126 seat belt violations, 26 speeding citations, 15 uninsured motorist citations and made arrests in one case alleging driving under the influence as well as 18 cases of driving while license suspended.
Officers recovered one stolen vehicle, made three drug arrests and 46 other arrests subsequent to the traffic stops.
“The St. Augustine Police Department would like to remind drivers that students are now on summer vacation and will be out driving — with the younger ones outside playing,” Samson told Historic City News. “Please drive responsibly; do not text and drive, watch out for children and teens, and, always wear your seatbelt.”
