St. Johns County has announced to Historic City News that they are currently accepting applications for the following board and committee vacancies.
Membership on one, or more, of the County’s boards or committees is open to persons with specific technical or professional knowledge as well as citizens whose sole qualification may be a desire to serve the County.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
Three (3) Vacancies
Purpose of Committee: Review established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and adopted local government comprehensive plan to recommend specific action or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
Qualifications: Seeking members actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing, a for-profit provider of affordable housing, and a real estate professional.
Meeting schedule: Meets quarterly and on an as needed basis.

Cultural Resource Review Board
Four (4) Vacancies
Purpose of Committee: Advise the Board of County Commissioners regarding cultural, architectural, archaeological and historical resources of St. Johns County; and to identify, evaluate, document, designate and protect these resources.
Qualifications: Seeking appointees qualified through the demonstration of special interest, experience or education in the preservation of the County’s cultural resources and those that have practical and professional experience in one or more of the following fields: archaeology, architecture, architectural history, curation or conservation, planning, professional engineering, real estate, history, historic preservation, or related disciplines.
Meeting schedule: Meets the 1st Monday of each month at 3:30 pm in the Board of County Commissioners Executive Conference Room, 500 San Sebastian View.

West Augustine CRA Nuisance Abatement Board
Five (5) Vacancies
Purpose of Committee: Newly created to conduct hearings regarding complaints of public nuisance within the West Augustine Community Revitalization Area (CRA).
Qualifications: Seeking appointees 18 years of age or older, St. Johns County resident for at least one year, residing or operating a business within the West Augustine CRA and exhibiting civic duty and an interest in fairly enforcing the Nuisance Ordinance.

Industrial Development Authority
One (1) Vacancy
Purpose of Committee: Created for the purpose of financing and refinancing projects for the public purpose described and in the manner provided by Florida Industrial Development Financing Act to foster economic development within St. Johns County.
Qualifications: Prefer representation from County Commission Districts 3 or 4. Must be a registered voter in St. Johns County. Members must file financial disclosure.
Meeting schedule: Meets as needed on the 3rd Monday of every other month from 3-5 pm in the BCC Executive Board Conference Room, 500 San Sebastian View.

A1A South Overlay District Design Review Board
One (1) Vacancy
Purpose of Committee: Develop submittal requirements and review procedures in accordance with Sections 3.07.04-3.07.14 of the Land Development Code to determine compliance in regards to development standards and criteria, minimum yard requirements, buffers, fences and walls, parking, signage, landscape criteria, architectural design standards, design elements and materials, and lighting criteria.
Qualifications: Must reside within the A1A South Overlay District, which extends from Owens Avenue south to the Flagler County line, east to the Atlantic Ocean and west to the Matanzas River.
Meeting schedule: Meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 2:30 pm in the Southeast Branch Library.

Contractors Review Board
Two (2) Vacancies
Purpose of Committee: Ensure proper administration of contractor licensing and discipline of licensees.
Qualifications: Must be a resident of St. Johns County for at least two years prior to appointment. Seeking licensed pool contractor and licensed general contractor.
Meeting schedule: Meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View.
