Public Affairs Director Paul K Williamson reminds Historic City News readers who are planning to attend the Discover First America programs in St Augustine that the first episode of the series is tomorrow night; Wednesday December 7th — not tonight as reported in error in the St Augustine Record this morning.
Wednesday night’s program, Pirates and Privateers of St. Augustine, is hosted by the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum and the First Light Maritime Society.
Celebrity adventurer and pirate museum owner Pat Croce journeys through The Pirates of St. Augustine, from Drake to Searles.
Maritime archaeologist Sam Turner tells of 1500’s life in St. Augustine and the Nation’s Oldest Port based on recent historical and archaeological research.
“Be sure to cover your ears,” Williamson cautioned, as he described the colorful cast of spirited swashbucklers and deadly weapons that will fill the evening.
The Discover First America programs are free and open to the public. St. Augustine 450th Commemoration Passports and souvenir stampings are complementary to participants.
Programs are held in the Flagler College Auditorium located at 14 Granada Street in St Augustine. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for seating, lobby displays, demonstrations and book signings. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Performances start at 7:00 p.m.
