Park Service Specialist Terri Newmans told local Historic City News reporters today that Fort Mose Historic State Park will hold a mini-summer camp this year for “ECO Rangers” on July 29th through July 31st.
The three day ECO Ranger camp, held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day, will introduce participants to topics in ecology, cultural history and outdoor education in a fun and exciting way.
This program, which is offered in partnership with the Fort Mose Historical Society, is appropriate for Rangers ages 8 through 12.
The cost per child is $15. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to 15 participants.
Fort Mose Historic State Park is operated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and interprets the story of Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose; the first legally sanctioned, free African settlement in what is now the United States. The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
