Laurie Sanderson reported the following St. Augustine and St. Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.
Downtown St. Augustine – roads closed for Christmas parade Saturday, December 3:
The parade begins 10 a.m. and will last approximately two hours. Road closures will begin at 9:30 a.m. and include the following:
San Marco Avenue (south of May Street), Castillo Drive (traveling South from West Castillo Drive), and Avenida Menendez (between Castillo Drive and Cathedral Place) will all close at 9:30 a.m., and traffic will be detoured to US 1 or King Street.
Cathedral Place, Cordova Street, West Castillo Drive (from US 1) and Orange Street (between Riberia Street and US 1) will all close at 9:45 a.m., and traffic will be detoured to King Street and US 1.
County Road 13 at Sixteen Mile Creek: Daytime lane closures Monday, December 5 through Friday, December 9 to paint roadway markings and complete final construction activities. The speed limit in this area has been reduced to 40 mph.
State Road 13 from Moremen Road to a half of a mile south:Daytime lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, December 5 through Thursday, December 8 to replace drainage pipes under driveways.
State Road 16 from the Clay County line to San Marco Avenue: Daytime lane closures Monday, December 5 through Thursday, December 8 while crews repaint the roadway markings.
State Road 16 Shands Bridge over the St. Johns River: Daytime lane closures from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 7 for routine bridge maintenance.
State Road 207 at County Road 305: Possible daytime lane closures Monday, December 5 through Friday, December 9 for delivery of equipment and materials to construct a multi-use trail from the end of the existing trail to Armstrong Road.
State Road 312 at Sgt. Tutten Drive and at Plantation Island Drive (Harbour Island Community):Daytime lane closures in both directions from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, December 5 through Friday, December 9 for work related to the reconstruction of turn lanes and the installation of new traffic signals at these intersections.
State Road A1A – Summer Haven Bridges (just north of Marineland): No lane closures are scheduled for the week of December 5. Motorists should drive with caution through the construction area. The speed limit in this area has been reduced to 40 mph.
State Road A1A from the Flagler County line to Avenida Menendez: Daytime lane closures Monday, December 5 through Thursday, December 8 while crews repaint the roadway markings, excluding the construction zone in Summer Haven.
State Road A1A from the Flagler County line to Summer Haven (Sea Wall): Possible daytime lane closures Monday, December 5 through Friday, December 9 to allow for delivery of equipment and materials.
US 1 at the San Sebastian River Bridge from Saragossa Street to King Street: Possible nighttime lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions Monday, December 5, through Friday, December 9.
US 1 at Vaill Point Road: One northbound lane is closed as well as the entrance to Vaill Point Road from US 1 while crews for St. Johns County replace a pipe on the east side of the Moultrie Creek Bridge. These closures are expected to continue until mid-January 2012. For more information, contact James Overton with the St. Johns County Utility Department.
