Due to wildfires throughout northeast Florida, many city and county governments have banned both personal and professional fireworks this year, however, Historic City News is happy to announce that St. Augustine’s fireworks display will go forward Monday night.
“Fireworks over the Matanzas” is the highlight of St. Augustine’s traditional Independence Day activities; and this year will be as good as ever.
The spectacular aerial display of pyrotechnics high over Matanzas Bay begins at 9:30 p.m., Monday, July 4th, and has become synonymous with celebrating Independence Day in the Nation’s Oldest City.
The 20-minute display is preceded by patriotic music in the Plaza de la Constitucion, which is fortunately a great place to view the fireworks. Personal fireworks, however, are prohibited within the city.
