Flagler College will hold its spring commencement ceremony Saturday, April 23, for graduating seniors. Approximately 406 students will receive diplomas in the Flagler College Gym.
The commencement speaker will be Adam W. Herbert, Jr., Ph.D., president and professor emeritus of Indiana University.
Herbert joined the Indiana University community from the University of North Florida, where he was Regents Professor and founding Executive Director of The Florida Center for Public Policy and Leadership. He served as president of the university from 1989-1998. From that position, he was appointed as the sixth chancellor of the State University System of Florida.
In addition, Herbert has held academic and administrative appointments at Florida International University, the University of Southern California and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University System.
In 1974, Herbert was selected as one of 15 White House Fellows and served as special assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare.
King Street will be closed in both directions at the main gate of the college, from approximately 8:45 to 9:00 a.m., for the processional. Commencement begins at 9 a.m. and is not open to the public.
The Flagler College Public Administration Program will graduate 17 students in a second ceremony at 4 p.m. in the Flagler College Auditorium.
