Flags lowered to honor former Mayor Bugeski

Public Information Coordinator Cathy DuPont informed local Historic City News reporters that the flags in front of City Hall will be lowered to half-staff on Friday, August 12th in honor of former St. Augustine Mayor Walter Bugeski.

Bugeski, who served as a City Commissioner from 1956 until 1961, and as Mayor in 1957 and 1958, passed away at the Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine on July 29, 2011.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12th at Grace United Methodist Church located at 8 Carrera Street in St. Augustine.

He is survived by two daughters, Charlene (Douglas) Bunnell of Midland, TX and St. Augustine and Raya (Neill) McArthur of Jacksonville; 3 grandchildren, Alyson B. (David) Miller, Ashley B. (Chris) Livingston and Wade McArthur; 5 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Katherine and Elizabeth Miller, Schuyler and Zachary Livingston.

Adele Bugeski, his wife of 65 years, preceded him in death.

Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
