The St. Augustine Genealogical Society reported to Historic City News that they will conduct two free classes on researching your family tree; one each on Wednesday, July 20th and 27th, at the Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 500 Deltona Boulevard in St. Augustine Shores.
The two-hour classes begin at 10:00 a.m.
The classes are designed to help those who want to find their family histories and will demonstrate how to begin research. Discussion will include the availability of records online and at various reference libraries to aid in ancestral research.
These classes and all Genealogical Society meetings are open to the public. Visitors and individuals interested in family genealogy are always invited to attend.
The next regular meeting will be Saturday, August 13th at 1:00 p.m. in the Southeast Branch of the St. Johns County Public Library located at 6670 US-1 South in St. Augustine.
The society’s semi-annual research trip to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City will be September 9th through the 18th. This library maintains records from every county, state and country in the world.
Trip participants are responsible for their own airline and hotel reservations; however SAGS will coordinate the trip. Those interested can contact the society’s president, Edie Mixon, at 794-7970.
