The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Youth Services Section informed local Historic City News reporters that they are sponsoring the 11th annual “Horror Zone” during this Halloween season.
The Horror Zone opens tonight and will be open for the next three weekends on Friday and Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each night.
“Deputies and volunteers have taken nearly six weeks to set up one of the finest haunted houses in the area at the former Mikee’s store location, 2497 US-1 South in the Food Lion shopping Center at Lewis Point Road,” said Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Kelshaw.
This year could be the biggest ever. Among the special effects are a vortex tunnel, great simulations, and even some brand new technological surprises.
Fans have come as far away as Tampa and Tallahassee over the past few years and at peak-times, guests will gladly wait for hours to enter the haunted house and enjoy the 10-12 minute tour.
Admission is $8.00 for ages 13 and over and $6 for those youngsters 12 and under who are brave enough to enter.
Family discounts are available. All of the proceeds will go to the Sheriff’s Office Youth programs. More information and details are available on their website at www.horror-zone.net.
