Humane Society holds Pawtini Hour fundraiser

The St. Augustine Humane Society informed Historic City News local reporters that they would hold the First Annual Pawtini Hour fundraiser on Thursday, October 13.

The event will run from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Raintree Restaurant, 102 San Marco Ave. in St. Augustine. The non-profit has designed the event as a fun way to raise funds for its mission to prevent pet overpopulation with affordable spay neuter programs and to eliminate the relinquishment of pets to shelters.

Humane Society volunteers and board members will serve as guest bartenders at a variety of drink stations around the restaurant with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Cost is $10 per person for admission and $7 per drink. Live entertainment provided by Brent Byrd. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Guest bartenders at the event will shake, stir and mix it up to get drink tips as additional donations to the Humane Society. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

President, Karen Lee Hogan, told reporters that all proceeds would be donated to the St. Augustine Humane Society.

“We invite everyone to come out and join us on a beautiful fall evening to enjoy the ambiance of the Raintree Restaurant and the many exotic concoctions during our fundraiser,” said Carolyn Smith, the non-profit’s Operations Director. “It’s a fun and easy way to demonstrate how much you care about the pets and citizens of St. Johns County.”

Hogan and Smith worked together to develop the idea with community support and sponsors.

The Raintree Restaurant is donating the space, bar hands and wait staff to help with serving.

Local businessman Michel Roux, owner of Crillon Importers and Absolute Americana Art Gallery in St. Augustine, will donate a variety of fine wines and liquors to defray the beverage costs. He will also donate 200 Absinthe art posters as giveaways. The posters are each valued at $25 or more.
