Inmate mail in Flagler County – postcards only

If you’re planning on writing to an inmate at the Flagler County Inmate Facility, Historic City News has learned that after January 15th, only postcards will be accepted.

Becky Quintieri, FCIF Director, told Historic City News today that letters will no longer be acceptable correspondence to local inmates.

“The change will free up staff time that otherwise would be used to screen the incoming and outgoing mail,” said Director Quintieri. “It also makes the mail more secure.”

Under the new guidelines, postcards sent to inmates must be no smaller than 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches and no larger than 4 1/4 by 6 inches.

Only metered-postage post cards will be accepted. Picture postcards are not acceptable.

Mail postmarked before January 14th and delivered after the new policy takes effect will be accepted and delivered to the inmates.

All incoming postcards must be clearly addressed with the inmates name and booking number and must be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service or a commercially licensed mail carrier. Inmates may send and receive an unlimited amount of postcards. Metered-postage postcards will be available for purchase in the FCIF Commissary or two postcards per week will be provided to inmates who have no funds in their trust account.

This policy will not affect legal mail, governmental documents mailed or sent from an official government agency, religious publications, books, magazines or newspapers mailed to the facility.
