Community Affairs Officer Mark Samson reported to Historic City News that the St. Augustine Police Department was called to the 800 block of South Ponce De Leon Boulevard earlier today to investigate complaints of an intoxicated man in the area.
When Officer William Moltimore arrived on the scene, he observed a man behind the wheel of a parked truck. As Moltimore approached the occupant, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana.
The officer asked the occupant, identified as 31 year-old Woodrow Whittington, II, of Windmere, Florida, about the odor. Whittington told Moltimore that he had “a joint and a pipe” in the truck.
When officers looked in the vehicle, they discovered a back pack containing approximately 3 grams of cocaine, 69.7 grams of marijuana, a bag of mushrooms weighing approximately 25.2 grams and two 30mg doses of the psycho-stimulant, Adderall.
All seized drugs were field tested and taken into evidence.
Whittington was arrested and charged with possession of prescription medication without a prescription, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana greater than 20 grams, and possession of drug equipment.
