Historic City News has learned that State Attorney Ralph “R.J.” Larizza has been elected Treasurer to the governing board of the non-profit Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association.
The educational organization created to serve the needs of prosecutors, is comprised of Florida’s 20 elected State Attorneys and over 1900 Assistant State Attorneys.
The officers of the Association, who began their two-year terms last month, are Hon. William Eddins, 1st Circuit – President ; Hon. Bradley E. King, 5th Circuit – Vice President; Hon. Glenn Hess, 14th Circuit – Secretary, and Larizza; who serves as Treasurer.
Primarily, the Association offers its members professional education seminars, publications and continuing technical support.

53 year-old Larizza is a native of Jacksonville; he graduated from Bishop Kenny High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in English, from Troy State University. Larizza is a 1996 graduate of the Walter F. George, School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He and his wife, Helen, make their home in St. Augustine.
He was elected to the office of State Attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit in 2008; defeating incumbent John Tanner.
The Seventh Judicial Circuit in Florida includes all of the following counties:
• Flagler
• Putnam
• St. Johns
• Volusia
