Rob Weber told local reporters at Historic City News that St. Johns County will reduce the hours of operation at the Hastings Branch Library effective May 31, 2011.
The new hours will be Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday and Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The new schedule reflects four fewer hours per week — a response to ongoing cost-savings and efficiency measures, as well as staffing challenges.
The reduction includes two weeknight hours and two Saturday afternoon hours, which data shows are not peak public service hours.
The change will allow better staffing while the library is open, particularly to accommodate public programming and high volumes of children and teens, especially when school is not in session.
See the new hours and learn about programs by visiting the library’s website at www.sjcpls.org.
