Lincolnville market will be solar powered

Market Director Sue Agresta reported to Historic City News that this Sunday, the Lincolnville Farmers Market will offer solar power to vendors and musicians, thanks to a new high-tech portable solar power system manufactured here in St Augustine.

When the City of St. Augustine held its 450th Commemoration meeting November 14th, Solar Stiks demonstrated how their solar and wind powered systems are perfectly suited for events and venues like the farmers market. They are portable, can operate almost anywhere, and can be set up or taken down quickly; a requirement of one of their major customers — the United States military. Solar Stiks is located in West Augustine at the former Morrison Hardware Store on West King Street.

Agresta promises more surprises as Christmas approaches; including, December 18, a visit from Santa Claus and horse-drawn sleigh-rides for little market-goers, live music by local solo artist Gary Lee Wingard, and a new “Lincolnville Spice Bazaar” for creative holiday cooking.

Agresta said visitors can get fresh produce, arts, crafts, jewelry, delicious lunch selections and enjoy family fun at the downtown St. Augustine Market. Open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each Sunday, the Farmers Market is located on South Riberia Street, behind the Galimore Center. Among the growing number of unique vendors, look for Growers Alliance Coffees and Robbin’s Nest Egg – one-of-a-kind beaded utensils using Czech fire-polished crystal, glass beads or gemstones.
