Historic City News has been informed that investigators with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office have linked three recent vehicle burglaries and a home burglary to a St Augustine man who is now in custody.
21 year-old Jacob Alexander Grant who resides at 6164 Datil Pepper Road in St Augustine was taken into custody Sunday after he was identified by a witness who says he observed Grant illegally enter a vehicle on First Street in the county’s southeast district.
Further investigation revealed the connection to two other vehicle burglaries and the burglary of an occupied home in the area.
In each car burglary, Grant was said to have entered the unlocked vehicle and removed items that were in plain sight.
Grant remains in the St. Johns County Detention Facility in lieu of $3,000 bond on each of the four felony charges — a total of $12,000.
During this holiday season, the men and women of local law enforcement are urging citizens to lock the doors to their homes and cars and to report suspicious activity to authorities.
