Manager robbed as she closed British Pub

Willie F. Brantley, Jr. and David Renwick, owners of The British Pub located at 213 Anastasia Boulevard, reported to Historic City News that their manager was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash while she was closing the pub in the wee hours this morning.

St Augustine Police were called to the scene to investigate just before 3:00 a.m. today, according to Public Information Officer Mark Samson.

Police officers searched the area around Davis Shores; however, no suspects were located.

A white man with a thin build, long face and shaved head, about 5’11” tall and wielding a knife, entered the pub — ambushing the manager at about 2:45 a.m. She described the robber as being in his mid-30’s, or early-40’s, with a tattoo of a skull on his right shoulder.

“He was demanding money and had the knife in his hand, pointing it at me,” according to her police statement. The manager described the robber’s clothing as a white vest or sleeveless tee-shirt and he was wearing dark colored pants.

After giving the robber the money, he darted from the building, running east on Anastasia Boulevard. There was no indication of an automobile being involved. The robber apparently acted alone, as no accomplice was reported. Samson did not indicate if the manager was injured in the robbery.
