U.S. Congressman John L. Mica (R-7th District) announced to Historic City News today that his long-term Chief of Staff, Russell L. Roberts, has decided to retire.
“Rusty has provided outstanding public service to the citizens of Florida’s 7th Congressional District for more than 18 years,” Mica said. “He has worked at the federal level for 27 years and four years as an aide in the Florida Legislature. His commitment to good government spans more than three decades and I gratefully respect his decision to retire from the public arena.”
Replacing Roberts is Wiley Deck, who has served with Congressman Mica the past 16 years as District Director, Legislative Assistant and Legislative Director.
“Rusty had asked to depart at the end of last year — but agreed to stay on until mid-March to assist in the transition as I assumed the Chairmanship of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee,” Mica told Historic City News of Roberts decision to retire. “Everyone extends their best wishes to Rusty as he departs federal service.”
