New coach AND new owner for Jacksonville Jaguars

Posted on 11/29/201111/30/2011 By Historic City News

Historic City News has received word that during a press conference called for noon today, the beleaguered Jacksonville Jaguars owner, Wayne Weaver, will announce that he has not only fired Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio, but also sold the NFL team — reportedly to 60 year-old Shahid Khan of Urbana, Illinois.

Del Rio was the second head coach in the team’s short history, replacing Tom Coughlin in 2003.

During recent years Weaver, the owner of Shoe Carnival stores, has publicly been unhappy with the team, the stadium, the fans, the profits; you name it.

ESPN has announced that Jacksonville Jaguars employees have already been told of the sale, the terms of which will reportedly keep the team in Jacksonville.

Khan announced on February 11th of last year that he had entered into an agreement to acquire 60 percent ownership of the Rams, subject to approval by other NFL owners. Stan Kroenke, the minority shareholder of the Rams, ultimately exercised a clause in his ownership agreement to match any proposed bid.

Khan came to America at the age of 16 from his native Pakistan. He graduated from the University of Illinois School of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1971.

The Jaguars are 3 wins and 8 losses heading into their Monday night home game with the San Diego Chargers.
