One dead in early morning crash

St Johns County Sheriff’s Traffic Homicide Investigator Joseph McGinnis reported to Historic City News that the Traffic Unit responded to the scene of a single-vehicle traffic collision that left the driver dead and two passengers with serious injuries.

E-911 operators first received the call at 5:37 a.m. from one of the passengers in the 1997 Chevy pick-up truck, reporting that there had been a crash on a private road in the DuPont Center Hunting Camp located near SR-206 and I-95.

After a short search of the hunting camp, deputies found the vehicle and the three victims.

None of the three victims had been wearing seatbelts, and all three were ejected when the vehicle rolled over.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation; however, alcohol is considered to be a factor contributing to the crash.

The driver, 24 year-old Forrest William Noda, who lived at 9390 US-1 South in St Augustine, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He would have turned 25 on February 11th.

The two passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

21 year-old Krystal E. Faris of St Augustine was taken to Flagler Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

21 year-old Chelsea R. Register of St Augustine was taken by air to Shands Jacksonville with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
