Historic City News has learned that renowned artist, David Ouellette, will exhibit a collection of original pieces in the Rotunda Gallery located in the St. Johns County Administration Building beginning June 21, 2011.
An opening reception will be held Tuesday morning from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. just before the Board of County Commissioner’s meeting. The event is open to the public and all are invited to enjoy refreshments while viewing the show and meeting the artist.
David Ouellette is a professor of visual arts at SJRSC and former gallery director at the Florida School of the Arts where he taught from 1981 to 2007. Mr. Ouellette will be offering two FloArts courses this Fall Term at St. Johns River State College, St. Augustine Campus: Drawing I and Two-Dimensional Design.
His work encompasses a career of visual creativity working in all media.
“I tend to develop works with an energy and intensity and a power in abstract form that presents themselves almost as a story,” explains Ouellette, “with characters, plots and subplots, beginnings, ends, all of which can be read by the viewer, however which is subject to their own interpretation and imagination.” Ouellette’s work can be found in many private and corporate collections. He has exhibited in galleries and art centers throughout Florida.
The exhibit will be on display from June 21 to September 23.
The St. Johns County Administration Building is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located at 500 San Sebastian Way off of US1 North.
