Public Information Officer Mark Samson informed crime patrol reporters with Historic City News that a 30 year-old St. Johns County man, wanted in connection with a dozen auto burglaries, was arrested by St. Augustine Police last week.
Saturday morning, May 14th, police took Christopher Charles Craft-Mitchell of 209-A Flagler Boulevard in St. Augustine into custody after forensic examination of blood and hair samples recovered from one of the vehicles reported to police on May 2nd.
Residents in North City who were parked at area businesses reported their vehicles burglarized and vandalized to St. Augustine Police Officers Jennifer Doucet and Amy Troucher who processed the crime scenes.
The results of DNA analysis were received from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Laboratory in Jacksonville on April 28th, matching Craft-Mitchell to the biological evidence.
Craft-Mitchell remains in custody; charged with two counts of larceny and one count of burglary with bonds totaling $22,500 — however, he is being held, without bond, on seven counts of failure to appear in court on previous charges.
