Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens reported to Historic City News that the St. Augustine Police Department will instruct a self-defense program for women and children next week.
The Rape Aggression Defense System being taught, is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.
The classes will be held at the St Augustine Police Department located at 151 King Street.
Classes are scheduled for February 7th and 9th at 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, February 12th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Stevens told Historic City News that mothers and their daughters age 10 or older, are encouraged to participate together. The registration cost is $35.00 per team, or, $25.00 per individual participant.
