Wendy Manucy informed Historic City News reporters that St. Johns County has teamed up with Advanced Disposal to get a jump on America Recycles Day by conducting a confidential document-shredding event — free to St. Augustine and St. Johns County residents.
Since 1997, communities across the country have come together in November to celebrate America Recycles Day. More than a celebration, America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling in the United States.
Businesses and individuals may participate by bringing their confidential documents for immediate destruction on Saturday, November 12th from 9:00 a,m, until 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Anastasia Square Shopping Center; located at the corner of SR-312 and A1A in St. Augustine.
All shredded material will be recycled. America Recycles Day, which is actually November 15th, is an excellent opportunity to show your commitment to a cleaner and safer environment. The county and the company are celebrating a couple of days early — realizing that more people will participate on the weekend.
Advanced Disposal personnel will perform the shredding on-site. Residents are invited to shred their personal documents, colored paper, stapled or paper-clipped documents, file folders and file hangers.
Do not bring three-ring binders or cardboard, as they will not be accepted.
The company is providing this free event to enable County residents and businesses an easy way to reduce the risk of identity theft and misuse of sensitive information, as well as comply with privacy laws and policies, which many businesses must abide by.
