Highlights
Annual Beach Passes Now Available – St. Johns County 2011 beach passes are now available at a special pre-season price of $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Get yours today at a Tax Collector’s Office, the St. Johns County Pier, or the Recreation and Parks Office.
Ponte Vedra Concert Hall – The St. Johns County Cultural Events Division reveals plans for The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, the new performing arts venue located in the heart of Ponte Vedra Beach. The Concert Hall will feature national and international performing artists and an array of activities, concerts and community events. The venue’s proximity to Jacksonville and the support of the local community will make this a must-stop for artists. Check out all the upcoming events @ www.pvconcerthall.com.
Adult Activities
Coed Volleyball starts this month. We have open courts at Ketterlinus Gym on January 11th, 13th, and 18th. The season will start January 25th with games on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Horseshoe League is also starting this month. We will have open courts on January 26th at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds. The season starts February 2nd. Contact Greg Mills at 669-6161 or Joe Shakar at 209-0385.
Triple Crown Classic Girls Fast Pitch Softball Tournament – Junior colleges will play on February 5th and 6th at Treaty Park. Ten junior colleges from around the state of Florida, one from Georgia and one from Tennessee will be competing. Play begins 10:00 am Saturday with the last games scheduled to start at 1:00 pm Sunday afternoon.
Matanzas Run – The race through historic downtown St. Augustine kicks off at 9:00 am on January 22nd. You can register online or print the registration form and then pick up your race packet prior to the race. Entry fees are posted and there will be team competitions, tons of awards for all age groups and even a Clydesdale division. There is also the Matanzas one mile Fun Run that begins at 10:15 am. It features t-shirts for the first 200 runners, medals for the top three boys and girls and an award for the school that has the most runners. Click for more information, online registration & forms.
St. Johns County Adaptive Recreation Program – This program is for young disabled adults (ages 18 to 30) that are looking for a social activity to participate in. The Recreation and Parks Department will be sponsoring, along with the Anastasia Bowling Lanes, a special bowling event on Saturday January 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please contact Jamie Baccari at 209-0377 for more details regarding this program.
Youth Programs
Family Integrity Teens need homes, too! Skilled caregivers are needed to open their hearts and homes to teens, and to help them successfully transition to adulthood. 2011 Summer Spectacular Program – Registration for the 2011 Super Summer Spectacular will be held February 28th through March 11th on our website. For information regarding camp locations, dates and prices please visit www.sjcfl.us/recreation starting February 1st.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt – Join the Recreation & Parks Department as we celebrate Easter on April 22nd we will have four locations again this year Davis Park, Veterans Park, Treaty Park and Al Wilkie Park. Visit our website www.sjcfl.us/recreation starting April 1st for more details.
Updates
Lights Out – As a cost savings measure, lights at Treaty Park from will be shut down December 17, 2010 – February 17, 2011. This includes the Paddle Tennis, Tennis, Racquetball, and Basketball courts. The Skate Park will remain lit throughout this time.
Beach Volleyball court lights located at the St. Augustine Beach Pier will be off December 25, 2010 – February 26, 2011. Lights out is done as a cost saving measure. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
New Hours Robert-Laryn Skate Park – 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays during the school year. 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm Wednesdays during the school year. 10:00 – 9:00 Saturdays, Sundays and school vacations.
