Saviak appointed to Judicial Nominating Commission

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio announced to Historic City News this morning that St. Augustine resident and Florida property rights advocate, 39 year-old Carol Saviak, has been appointed to serve as a member of the federal Judicial Nominating Commission for the Middle District of Florida.

Saviak is employed by statewide non-profit public policy organization, Coalition for Property Rights; where she serves as Executive Director.

Florida’s Judicial Nominating Commission is a statewide panel charged with selecting nominees for presidential appointments to federal judgeships, U.S. attorneys and U.S. marshals.

The Middle District of Florida extends from Fort Myers to Tampa to Jacksonville.

“I am extremely honored to have been selected by Senator Rubio to serve on the Judicial Nominating Commission,” Saviak to Historic City News. “If we desire to see the basic ideals of the Constitution upheld in our courts, we must ensure well-qualified candidates are nominated to fill these key positions.”

Saviak received her Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising from the University of Florida’s top ranked College of Journalism and Communications.

She and her husband, Dr. Joe Saviak, reside on Anastasia Island. He is also a public policy expert and serves as an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at Flagler College.

Saviak joined the Coalition for Property Rights in November 2004 and now directs its operational and political activities. She has a broad background in strategic communications and has helped to craft positive public images for a number of elected officials, businesses and non-profit organizations.

Her interest in public policy began with her work as a staff member for the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s highly regarded Leadership Florida Statewide Community Foundation.

Saviak is an experienced fundraiser who is active in the community. She has served on the Community Leadership Council of the Howard Phillips Center for Youth and Families, the Boy Scout Council Central Florida Chapter Annual Auction Committee, and has contributed and raised funds for a number of other local charitable organizations.
