Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Kelshaw informed Historic City News that sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, burglars made their way through an air conditioning vent on the roof of a SR-312 restaurant and gained access to bags of cash before the left — the same way they got in.
According to detectives, Longhorn Steakhouse was the victim of the overnight burglary; during which an undetermined amount of cash was stolen from a safe located in the manager’s office.
When employees reported for work at 7:00 a.m. Monday, they discovered the burglary and called the Sheriff’s Office.
The incident report says that, once inside, some type of cutting tool was used to make a small hole into the safe; through which, several cash bags were stolen.
Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to contact detective David Zufelt at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office by calling (904) 824-8304. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS(8477).
