Shoemaker will address local Republicans

Terry Shoemaker, a candidate to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Florida District 20 House member, Bill Proctor, informed Historic City News that he will address the regular meeting of the Republican Club of St. Augustine at their second-Monday-of-the-month meeting on October 10th.

Also speaking after the brief business meeting will be St. Augustine businessman, Mike Davis; a Republican candidate who has received Proctor’s endorsement to fill the seat.

According to Gary Bruce, President of the organization, this will not be a “debate” but rather an introduction of two potential Republican candidates for Florida’s House of Representatives. “This is your chance to get to know the candidates and to hear them speak to the issues of concern,” Bruce told Historic City News.

Kim Kendall, currently an announced Republican candidate for House Seat 19, expects that as the redistricting dust settles, she will be competing for Proctor’s seat as well.

A social meeting, featuring complimentary heavy refreshments, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the business meeting scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

Club meetings are currently held at the St. Augustine Shrine Club located at 125 Brainard Street. There is a cash bar for beer and wine available.

Bruce reminds Historic City News readers that meetings of the Republican Club of St. Augustine are open to all registered Republicans and the costs of the programs presented are not paid for by any political candidate or campaign.
