Two men and a sixteen year-old were arrested early this morning stemming from an incident that began late Tuesday night, according to a sheriff’s report received by Historic City News.
The following three men are facing grand theft charges:
Willie Remare Powell Jr., 21, 608 N. Heritage Creek Way
Blaine Lanard Elmore Jr., 18, Palm Coast
Terrell Leon Powell Jr., 16, 950 Duval St.
The investigation began Tuesday night at 11:45 p.m. when deputies responded to a report of a single car crash into a fence at Butler Avenue and Smith Street.
A 47 year-old male victim in that collision was transported to Flagler Hospital by County Rescue Personnel. He told deputies that he had been at a bar on Anastasia Island and claimed that he was missing a large amount of cash. The victim remembered walking across the street; but, could not remember anything after that.
A witness at the crash scene observed three male subjects standing over the victim. According to the witness statement, one of the men jumped into the truck — the other two fled into the woods.
Sergeant Howard Cole spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one belonging to the victim and began to follow it as it traveled and turned onto many streets in the West Augustine area. Additional deputies responded and they conducted a traffic stop in the area of Evergreen and Francis Streets.
One of the occupants jumped out of the vehicle and fled into the woods.
The other three were secured and questioned.
Willie Remare Powell Jr. is being held in lieu of $2,500 bond.
Blaine Lanard Elmore Jr. is being held without bond and is the subject of an open warrant for violation of probation.
Terrell Leon Powell Jr. was released to a relative.
The fourth suspect is being sought and additional charges are pending further investigation.
