Spanish Feast of Thanksgiving and Colonial Foods

Park Service Specialist Terri Newmans has invited Historic City News readers in St Augustine to visit the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Fort Mose Historic State Park for a special tasty edition of the park’s Living History Days series.

Participants will explore African, Native American and Spanish cooking techniques and cuisine during Living History Days: Spanish Feast of Thanksgiving and Colonial Foods on Saturday, November 26th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Re-enactors will be onsite in period dress discussing eighteenth century foodways and demonstrating period cooking practices. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and bring insect repellant, as the program will be held outdoors.

The cost of the program is included in the $2.00 per person entrance fee to the park’s visitor center. Children, six years old and under, are free.

Fort Mose Historic State Park is located at 15 Fort Mose Trail in Saint Augustine.
